Greenbelt Community Orchestra started rehearsing in 2023, led by conductors Derek Maseloff and Seth Glabman.
Our mission is to provide an outlet for local musicians to play together and to share our love of music with the local community. All orchestral instruments are welcome (until we reach capacity for each section). We aim to have a special focus on string players, who are currently under-served locally.
Concerts
Thank you to all who came out to our very successful Black History Month concert on February 23. Read a review on page 7 of the Greenbelt News Review. Click here to watch a video of the concert.
Our next concert will be on Thursday, May 22, 7pm at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, in collaboration with the ERHS band program. We will play some of Beethoven's Symphony #7 and an overture by Emilie Mayer (the "female Beethoven"), among other pieces.
Sign up here to receive email notifications about future concerts.
We are currently seeking additional French horn, tuba and trombone players, as well as more violins and double basses! Please let us know if you know of anyone who might be interested in joining us.
Please consider donating to the orchestra so that we can continue to perform free concerts in the community, and so that we can play a more diverse selection of music (it is expensive to pay for the rights and rent the parts for music that is not in the public domain, e.g. music by women and people of color).
Rehearsals
We rehearse on Thursdays at 7 p.m. in Greenbelt Community Center. If you would like to join us, please fill out the Interest Form to be added to our email list for communications.
